Wolfstar sat in the clearing on a starry night and looked up at the stars, wondering if her father was watching her from StarClan. A tear ran down her cheek as she remembered her father and the cat that was in her den.

Dagger stretched out in a tall tree where he could see everything that went on in the Shadeclan territory. It was his duty now, as appointed Look-out and Bodyguard for his leadess. He found himself smiling slightly as he thought about the grey she-cat, licking his sore paw intently. He instantly stopped when he became aware of it, wondering why he behaved so differently toward her. It was then that a grey figure entered the main clearing and his golden gaze landed instantly upon her familiar form. He instantly spotted her sad expression as she looked up at the sky, the glistening drop of moisture trickling down her cheek. Without thinking about it, a concerned look washed over his features and he lept down from branch to branch until he landed squarely on the ground. Walking slowly toward the grey femme, he meowed softly. "M'lady.. Wolfstar, what is it that has caused you to shed this tear?" He inquired, his tones clearly filled with concern.

Wolfstar looked at Daggerclaw and whiped the tear away with her tail.
"It's my father, I wonder where he is." she meowed looking back up at the sky.

The black tom watched Wolfstar with gentle golden eyes that sparkled brightly in the light of the moon and the stars. His pelt was shadowed in the darkness of the night, only his large sillhouette and bright golden chasms giving him away. He listened to her and followed her gaze to the sky. By that hint, he had his suspiscion and looked at her again. "Is he.. lost?" He inquired gently in a low tone.

Wolfstar shook her head.
"No, hes dead. He was a great leader of ShadeClan." Wolfstar meowed and looked at Daggerclaw. "Let me see that paw." she meowed looking at the one that had the thorn.

Dagger nodded gravely, sitting down in front of the femme, and pressing his nose to her muzzle reassuringly before pulling back. "I know what it's like to lose your parents. It happened to me as well, a long time ago." He meowed in his strong, smooth tones. He glanced down at his paw when she mentioned it, lifting his padside-up. The thorn had been lodged deep in the center of his kitty-palm and it bled a little from his leap off the tree. He hadn't been paying enough attention to notice the pain when he'd made the leap. He held his sore paw out for Wolfstar's observation, looking at her again. "Nature took a stab at me on my journey to this territory.." He explained briefly, holding back a smile as he gazed at Wolfstar.

Wolfstar looked at the thorn and began to lick Daggerclaw's pad until she got a good hold of the thorn and pulled it out then spat it away. She looked back at the pad and began to lick it clean, gently rasping her tounge over his pad.

Dagger sat in silence as Wolfstar licked his pad. For a moment he became lost in some fantasy his subconscious mind had cooked up. For one single moment he was looking into the eyes of his deceased mate, seeing her as if she were alive again. But then the face of his beloved lost one slowly morphed into the face of Wolfstar and he was seeing her in a new light. But in the next moment, he snapped out of it because her tongue had gripped the thorn. He didn't even flinch as the thorn came out of his pad, and he gazed down at her as she cleaned the wound, his golden eyes sparkling with the warmth he felt inside. He realized it instantly and felt suddenly burned. 'Why is this happening? Why am I feeling this way again? I swore I wouldn't, I'll only hurt her..' He thought to himself, a pained look in his eyes now. He smiled softly, but it didn't reach his eyes as he looked at the she-cat. "Thank you, Wolfstar. I really appreciate it.." He meowed in an even quieter tone than usual. He sighed softly and looked away, unable to look her in the eyes at the moment.

Wolfstar nodded and looked at the sky. She had to choose a deupty and soon. She sighed, not knowing who to choose.

Once again, Dagger tried to clear his mind of his thoughts, but they pushed down heavily on him like a giant boulder. He looked to Wolfstar and before he could think twice about it, he licked the side of her muzzle, still grateful that she removed the painful burden that was in his paw.

Wolfstar blinked her bright yellow eyes and looked at Daggerclaw, wondering why he did that. Of course she liked him, she liked all of her warriors, kits, apprentices, elders, and queens, but maybe Daggerclaw was different. Earlier when she was a warrior, she had promised to Bloodstar that she wouldnt let anything get in her way once she was leader, now it seemed like it didnt matter.

Dagger gazed at Wolfstar with soft and bright golden eyes. He could not forget his little daydream. Maybe this was what Keena wanted, maybe she'd been trying to tell him to move on. Maybe it would be okay to be with Wolfstar.. 'No, there's no way. I'll just wind up hurt, or I'll hurt her like I did Keena. She's my leadess, I can't bother her with such fantasies. She has a clan to focus on; she doesn't need you.' He thought to himself. But still.. maybe.. No, she wouldn't want him. Why would she? What made him so special that he deserved to be at her side? Dagger sighed slightly and nosed her shoulder because it felt good to do so; it felt right. But then he pulled back and laid down, resting his head on his paws and looking off into space.

Wolfstar looked at Daggerclaw after he layd down. Why would he want to be with a leader? she thought sadly and looked back up at the sky. Why would anyone want to be with me? Wolfstar sighed and looked at Daggerclaw with soft eyes.
